Shama Island North Hong Kong

We booked a Superior Queen Room through Agoda for a staycation with my boyfriend, but were given a room for disabled guests. The booking site hadn't said that was the room type, and we hadn't selected one for disabled guests. Staff said it was the last room and blamed us for making a same-day, last-minute booking. They offered late checkout, but no other compensation. In the end, we booked another nearby hotel at the last minute. Thankfully, it had a normal room with a normal shower and toilet area, where we could shower and wash off the stress. It was disappointing that Shama staff didn't offer to move us to another nearby Shama or give us a discount. The reception staff were strict in their manner, unfriendly, and unhelpful.

For 40 EURO per night for a double room, this was really good value, much better than any other hotel in Hong Kong. The room was bigger than rooms at other hotels, clean and tidy. The staff were respectful and polite, and people helped us a lot.

The reception staff were super friendly, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, plus a little art street. You can see the "ding ding" trams outside the window, so it's easy to hop on one, and the MTR is close too. The carpet throughout was comfortable, and everything felt good quality. The rooms aren't very spacious, but that's Hong Kong. I only stayed one night. Check-in took a long time. A lot of hotels seem to be like that, but in this digital era I think the process could be much faster, or even fully digital. Still, it was a good place to stay, and I'll remember it next time I visit HK.

Clean, modern rooms, a good location about 5 minutes from the MTR, and really nice staff who were willing to help with issues. It's decent for the money, but the mattress was very firm. As someone a bit heavier, I found it made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep, so I can't stay here again. The hallway sometimes smelled of cooking.
