Hoi Shing House

The room was clean, had the usual amenities, and was a reasonable size by HK standards. The location was excellent, so this can work well if you don't mind the management seeming a bit improvised. There wasn't anyone at reception. I had to call one of the numbers on the business cards using the phone left there, and someone came to let me in. There wasn't really a check-in process: nobody asked for ID or checked my reservation, they just looked around for an empty room. There were also lots of bags left in the hallways for days, and I couldn't tell whose they were. I was asked whether I'd booked the whole room, so I guess booking half a bed might be possible.

This was our second stay, the previous one was in 2016. Dan and the staff were all very friendly. The room sizes were what you'd expect in HK, with the triple rooms a little larger. This time, though, our rooms seemed to have a cockroach infestation.

For getting around, it's hard to beat this place: it's above Jordon MTR station, a five-minute walk from Temple street, and about 15 minutes farther to Arena of Stars and the rest of Tsim Sha Tsui. The China Ferry terminal is nearby too, with shopping and good food within walking distance. The airport bus stops next to the hotel. The rooms are too small, and Chinese people are in the lounge all the time.

The room is smaller than a typical Hong Kong budget hotel room.
