The only thing we liked was Hongkong city itself. This so-called hostel was awful, and I strongly recommend staying away. We booked a room for four but were given a tiny, stinky one with two single beds. Later they wanted another 130 US dollars from us, and they tried to move us into an even smaller room, claiming repairs were needed. In reality, they had sold our room to somebody else. We met the people who had booked our supposed larger room, and they said they had been fooled too. Another group had booked for six and ended up in our old two-bed room. They were begging for their money back. The room conditions were bad all around. There was no hot water during the hours they had described, the toilet leaked, and the smell in the room was hard to put into words. The towels were tiny 20x20 pieces of fleece. As for cleaning, they emptied the bin and that was about it. Nothing matched what the listing and ads said. The owner or receptionist was a lunatic. He nearly beat one of us and threatened to cut him. Police came at least four times during our nine-day stay. Once you've paid, you won't get a cent back, so don't pay until you've seen the room. After seeing it, you probably won't want to stay anyway.

The location is pretty prime, and the folks were nice. Since it was on the 3rd floor, I liked being able to use the stairs down instead of waiting for the lift. A bit of an adventurous choice for travellers on a budget.

I won't book here again. The room wasn't clean and the pictures were inaccurate. I had to pay another 600 HKD for a normal bed, even though I'd already booked it. There wasn't a shower unless I paid more. A guesthouse is a better choice, with the same price and much better quality.

The surroundings felt really scary, and the water from the taps smelled fishy. We had booked a room with a bathroom, but the staff member still asked us to pay extra for one. He was rude, kept shouting, and called my aunt a bunch of bad things. Don't ever go here.

The receptionist was horrible and rude, and we had no bath towels. Whenever we asked, they just said, “No dry, no dry,” then “go, go, go.” Hot water was only available at 9 am. We had requested early check-in and were told it was okay, but when we arrived they made us wait until 2 pm. They also wanted an extra 100 HK dollars for two single beds, though the email said we could request them without charge. I wouldn't recommend this hostel. I'd pay extra for a decent hotel. Zero stars for hk star.
