The reception staff were super friendly and personable, and the price was reasonable. The place has an unusual design with lots of little details to notice. The rooms are small, but have what you need, including a comfortable bed and okay WiFi. I was pleasantly surprised and would give it 5*.

The AirPort Express bus stop is right next to the hotel, and the MTR station is about a four-minute walk away. There’s a coastal park within walking distance, a nice spot for morning exercise with views of the harbour and mountains. A bakery nearby sells takeaway breakfast if you’re in a rush. The room was clean, small but fine for one person, and the facilities were new.

On the day Typhoon No. 10 struck, I heard about the extreme weather on the news at 10:30 AM and promptly asked the receptionist for a late checkout, since the usual time was 11:00 AM. She immediately refused and didn’t offer any safety measures for guests leaving that day. I mentioned the Hong Kong Observatory’s advice to seek shelter and asked how I could leave safely. Her only suggestions were to pay for another day or take a taxi. I didn’t accept the pressured offer to extend my stay, especially as there was no discount. After checkout, I saw other guests rushing out in dangerous conditions. Wooden boards were scattered outside, likely from nearby industrial activity and the typhoon, creating a hazard. The hotel may not have formally evicted guests who were due to check out, but the lack of flexibility felt coercive. The lobby had just one sofa, which the receptionist didn’t suggest, and it could not have accommodated everyone leaving. Otherwise, guests would have had to stand in the common area until Typhoon No. 3 was hoisted. That only happened at 7:40 pm. Safety should come before profit. This treatment was completely uncalled for, and the company should update its extreme-weather policy.

The place has quirky industrial decor and a vintage feel. Check-in was quick, and service and housekeeping were on the ball. The rooms fit two people and their baggage, with a good layout. It’s a quiet location, which is a real bonus in noisy HK. There aren’t many food options right nearby, but Kowloon Bay MTR is just one stop away, with lots of restaurants open from 06:00 until 23:00.
