Starry Inn

The room cost us €45 a night, and at that price you can get a great hotel in China, though apparently not in HK. It was tiny, smelled of mold, and everything was dirty and dusty. The air conditioning was a disaster, and we found bedbugs in the beds. I'm itchy and disgusted. Calling the wet room a bathroom is a cheek. Paying a bit more would be better. Calling this place a hotel feels like an insult.

Our room on level 22 was quiet enough to rest, though we could still hear footsteps when people walked by. Mongkok MTR exit E is about a five-minute walk away. The room is simple, mostly just somewhere to rest, and seems aimed at budget travelers. Cleanliness was average, with one thin pillow per bed, and there was no daily housekeeping beyond emptying the rubbish bin. The toilet and shower share a cramped space, so each shower gets the toilet bowl wet. Shower gel and shampoo are provided, but don't expect much else.

There was no front desk, so guests had to check themselves in and out, and the service was poor. Staff were irresponsible and impossible to contact. The room was dirty, the toilet door didn't work properly, there were no curtains on the windows, and cockroaches crawled around inside. You couldn't even find the place's name in the building. The facilities are hostel level at best, nowhere near a hotel.

The location wasn't bad, but the service wasn't okay. I got a very small room, the bathroom door was broken, and bedbugs bit me 12 times in less than five days.
