Yan Yan Guesthouse

The standout for me was how clean the guesthouse was. No odd smells, stains on the bedding, or sign of insects. The beds were comfortable, the white bedding was clean, and luggage fit in the clean space under the bed. Rooms are comfortable enough, even in a city known for tiny spaces. Staff were friendly and accommodating, which isn't common in Hong Kong. Towels are a bit small, but they're changed every day. There are decent basics too, including a small fridge, toiletries, a universal plug, and hot and cold drinking water. It's in Chungking mansion and one of the best guesthouses in the area.

Finding the place was tough for a visitor like me. Getting into E zone and up to the 9th floor was confusing, but once inside it seemed convenient. In the morning, I realized the window behind the air conditioner wasn't sealed tightly, and cold air gave me a sore throat. The curtain seemed to have been put there for a reason. She kindly moved me to a new room. Thanks.

It's a family-run apartment, and everyone was really nice and accommodating. I came with a friend, and since they had room and it didn't matter to them, they kindly put us in a bigger room. For what you pay, it's hard to complain.

The room was filthy, with dusty surfaces, stained sheets, and a moldy bathroom. The building also felt unsafe, with loose wires, cracks in the ceiling, and shaky stairs. My stay at this hostel was terrible. Avoid it for your own safety.
