There’s a delicious, affordable noodle shop right next door, and cafes and tourist attractions are close by for a walk. The hotel is clean and modern, with a large park nearby and good air quality. It’s also near the subway, and Kunming Airport is about a 30-minute taxi ride away.

Most of the staff were friendly, though the front desk could be more hospitable. I spent seven days here on a business trip and was satisfied, even though the room felt a little dated. The location beside the lake is convenient for foreigners. For a taste of busier local life, though, you’d want to stay farther south.

There should be better choices at this price.
