Q-Box Hotel Shanghai Sanjiagang

We were worn out after an overnight layover, but the problems in this hotel were hard to overlook. The first room, on the 7th floor, was a long way from the lift, smelled strongly and unpleasantly, and looked as though nobody had cleaned it. When we asked to change rooms, staff said the smell was because it was near the sea. That’s unacceptable. Proper maintenance is still to be expected. They moved us to the 6th floor, closer to the lift, but there was still a smell and we could hear the TV in the next room. The toilet door was broken and wouldn’t close, and there were flies inside. We were too tired to keep dealing with it, so we left things as they were. We’ll check out at 7am. This is the worst hotel experience I’ve had so far.

The lobby toilets were clogged with human waste, and the replacement room was just as bad as the first, with the same unacceptable conditions. We left immediately and didn’t stay the night. There was vermin in the beds, the windows were screwed shut and couldn’t be opened, the carpet was filthy, and plaster was falling off the walls. The beds felt damp, and the whole room smelled horribly musty, like an old wet basement. By far the worst “hotel” experience I’ve ever had. Avoid this place at all costs. Absolutely unacceptable.

I stayed at Qube Hotel Shanghai Sanjiagang from 1/11/24 to 2/11/24, and would give the experience 1/5. At midnight, when we checked in, we were given a used room that hadn’t been cleaned, which was a terrible start. They did have another room available, fortunately. Breakfast was also disappointing. The host seemed stressed and unfriendly, adding to the discomfort. We expected better service.

The room was nice, but there was no food available when we arrived at 9pm, and nobody helped us find any. The windows didn’t shut properly, so wind noise carried through the bedroom all night.
