Casa Galu

We got unlucky with the weather, with rain for most of our stay. It is a rain forest, so expect showers in the mornings and evenings, and sometimes during the day. The hotel held up well through the bad weather, and the cozy common area was a real plus. Casa Galu is nestled on a slope among tall trees and palms, surrounded by coastal rain forest. You're a few minutes' walk from Capurganà's dock, and, if you're lucky, you may see Monkeys and Iguanas in the trees. The simple rooms use good materials, have a nice feel, and let air pass through. We expected more mosquitoes, but there were almost none. Dinners were delicious, with Laura and Daniel preparing different menus each night. Breakfast was simple, eggs and toast or arepa, with some fruit and jam variations. Monica and Mariano looked after us and helped arrange transport and activities. I'd recommend this hotel if you want to immerse yourself in the coastal landscape, with a few comforts, a clean room, cold shower, and amazing views of the surroundings.

It was hard to leave, we enjoyed our time here so much. Thomas and his crew made the stay extraordinary, and Laura and Daniels cooking skills are beyond yummy. Pure paradise. We loved every second and will definitely come back. Thank you!

The location is wonderfully quiet, away from the main square. All you hear is nature, the ocean, and birds, and the hotel runs on solar power, so daily town power cuts aren't a worry. The rooms are comfortable, with a good bed and great ventilation. Prices are fair, and the service is incredible. Andres and line are kind, sociable hosts who are always ready with help and recommendations. Laura and dan, the night chefs, make incredible food, growing everything on their own land. Delicious. Without a doubt the best hotel in capurgana. I'd recommend it and go back a thousand times.

We spent almost two weeks at Casa Galu in April with our two boys, and we're definitely coming back. The place, its gardens, sea views, and facilities are beautiful, and you can see how much Charlie and Thomas care for it. They've protected the plants and animals while preserving the land's natural beauty. The cabins feel like they're up in the trees with monkeys, iguanas, frogs, and all kinds of birds. Every room has a wonderful sea view, and at night we fell asleep to the waves and sea breeze. Capurgana and the nearby towns and beaches offer plenty to do, from snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing to jungle hikes across rivers to waterfalls or natural pools. Charlie and Thomas know the area and gave us great day trip suggestions. Grisel is an amazing cook, and even my picky-eater boys loved every meal. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable.
