That balcony view looks great in the photo, but it wasn’t much use to us. You can’t swim in the pool on Mondays, and the bar menu isn’t available to order from. Before booking, ask what’s closed and what food or drinks you can actually get. You might want to check whether you can see outside from the room too, it felt like a jail cell.

The room problems kept piling up. I was moved twice: the first room had no shade on the window, so light flooded in and I couldn’t sleep; the next had a broken air conditioner. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, and restaurant food smells wafted into the rooms and were awful. You could hear things easily because the rooms aren’t soundproofed. The TVs and trash cans were broken and need replacing, and when I asked for room service, they never brought it. I reported everything and was only told they’d pass it along. Terrible service for a hotel that’s supposed to be the best around.

The TV in our room wouldn’t connect to the internet, and the rooms had a terrible smell. There wasn’t any toilet paper in the bathrooms either. At the pool, I left my bag on a lounger. A staff member called to say it had been found, but when I opened it, my money was scattered around and 120,000 pesos were missing. I filed a complaint, and a staff member returned 100,000 pesos.
