Hotel Alicante Boutique Spa

The staff were friendly, breakfast and coffee were free, and the neighborhood is great with plenty nearby. Those positives helped the rating, but I doubt I'd stay again. The rooms are run down and have a lot of problems, even though they're big and spacious. The air conditioning works, but seems too small for the rooms. My bed was uncomfortable because it had no box spring and too few wooden support slats. The shower door wouldn't close fully, and my safe didn't work. My friend's room had no safe, and its window wouldn't shut completely, so he had to keep the bathroom door closed to stop heat coming into the rest of the room. Neither patio door in our rooms would lock. We had no hot water either. I travel a lot and know that isn't always standard; with Barranquilla being so hot, the water wasn't really cold, so it didn't bother me, but I wanted to mention it. I know the price is low, but I've stayed in other hotels in Colombia and Barranquilla for the same price that were much better. Without the friendly staff, I'd rate this hotel a lot lower.
