Hotel Avanty

The main downside for me was the Wi-Fi. It only worked downstairs, not in the rooms. The area made me a little uneasy, though it wasn't too bad if you stayed alert. The hotel itself was good, with working air conditioning and clean facilities. The staff tried to help, and I'd recommend it.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and the cable TV is good. This is a simple, no-frills hotel. The Wi-Fi wasn't working properly when I was there, except around the downstairs reception.

There are lots of restaurants at different prices nearby, along with shopping and Paseo Bolivar. It's downtown Barranquilla, close to a Bancolombia branch and the hospital, which is handy if you have family there. My room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet, with large windows, good TV, and a comfortable bed. It was cleaned daily, and had air conditioning. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

We came from Ecuador to shop in Ipiales and couldn't get a room at Santa Isabel 2, so someone recommended this hotel, part of the same chain as Santa Isabel I and II and Hotel Rumichaca. The service was good, and the place was clean, fairly new, and inexpensive for an overnight stay. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. There’s an elevator, TV, and Wi-Fi. Since it’s off the main street, there wasn’t much traffic noise at night and we could rest. We stayed Saturday to Sunday, though, so maybe Fridays are louder. The beds are firm and the blankets felt a bit tight, but nights are cold. I didn’t care for the very high, hard pillows. They provide soap; shampoo costs extra, though it’s cheap.
