I left very dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend it. The photos are outdated, many show the surrounding area rather than Hostal La Canoa, and the place is unhygienic. The food was bad and expensive. I was offered a stay with sheets, towels, and breakfast, but the sheets were incomplete and I never saw any towels. I got up at 8 am, and the women responsible for the kitchen still hadn’t arrived. I was only told they’d be delayed, so I left right away.

We went with a friend and left immediately on the first day after a disturbing incident with the guy who works at Javier. He took a friendly gesture, or our willingness to chat and have a few beers, as a reason to barge into our room with completely inappropriate intentions. The accommodation, cleanliness, service, and food also left a lot to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

The rooms are fine and comfortable, and being so close to the sea is the best part. Showers are shared with everyone and limited to 10 liters each. The bathrooms and showers are basic.

What a great time, my friend. It’s sun and sand, the natural beauty of my Caribbean, and my people from Baru. You hear the waves crashing, mulatto birds singing, and some great reggae. The service is excellent.

The staff are the best thing about this hostel. They’re welcoming and make you feel comfortable, and the view is incredible. A great place.
