Villa Deluxe Los Cocos

We’ve stayed at Los Cocos twice and hope we get the chance to return. It’s a peaceful, special place where our family could really unwind. The room was nice, the facilities were in great shape, and having a kayak and paddle board available was a lovely extra. We swam in the pool and the sea every day. There’s sandy access to the water, but no mangroves nearby. I found the setting quiet and safe compared with the busier Colombian beaches full of sellers. You can hear the party island across from the hotel, probably about a 20-minute paddle away, but we still found the villa calm and comfortable. Judith, Carlos, and Keiner made our stay especially easy. Judith was a wonderful hostess, and the three of them went out of their way to make sure we had a superb visit. The food was great, and we ate all our meals at the Villa. Prices felt reasonable for the area, and we had everything we needed there. Cartagena is a good 1.5 hours away. The Villa staff arranged a ride with Carlos, who was exceptionally kind and knows the road well. Getting there and back with him was a great experience. Judith also arranged a boat trip to Agua Azul, about five minutes away. The ride cost $30,000 per person and included chairs and a table. We felt respected there because Los Cocos has a standing relationship with one of the bars, so there was no funky business. It gave us some time on a blue, sandy Caribbean beach while still letting us enjoy the Villa’s quiet, safe atmosphere.

The setting is beautiful, and the food and service were great. It’s peaceful and charming, but getting there is quite a journey, so one night felt too short. The property has no beach access, so we took a boat to nearby Playa Azul. The next day, the staff helped arrange a Rosario Islands tour with the hotel next door. It’s very remote on Baru, and the road has muddy stretches that need a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We used their recommended transportation. There’s no boat access from Cartagena. We were also unsettled by local men on Baru who tried to stop our vehicle and charge us to “guide” us to the hotel. They were aggressive, grabbing onto the vehicle and trying to intimidate us. I think local hotels and rentals should address this because it can be frightening for tourists.

Judith and her team took great care of us during our few days at this lovely hideaway on Baru. They arranged several boat trips from the hotel, and the food and drinks were delicious. The team were professional and friendly too. Gracias Judith!

We felt right at home here, and I’d highly recommend using their transfer service. The staff can arrange excursions and transfers too. All the food is homemade, which we loved. Since guests rent rooms individually and there aren’t many people around, this charming villa stays very peaceful. It’s a lovely place to spend a few days relaxing. Thank you so much!
