Hotel Balck Usaquen

My bed shook whenever buses and cars went by on the avenue, and the shower water was always cold. The room phone didn’t work either. I’m sensitive to noise, so I was trying to avoid it during breakfast on the rooftop. When I asked to take breakfast down to my room, they charged what felt like an outrageous delivery fee for just 10 meters, since my room was one floor below the kitchen. The staff weren’t helpful and seemed to say no to every request. I understand there are rules, but all in all, you’d have a better experience at any motel.

What a nightmare. There were roaches, no water to flush the toilet, and the blackout covering the only window was useless. They’d used staples just to hold it up. The furniture was in bad shape, and though breakfast and internet were advertised as free, the breakfast was horrible. The taped-up coffee maker made me sick, and neither WiFi nor cable worked. I complained to reception because there was no manager, and the receptionist promised a full refund, then went back on her word. I had the same awful experience at Hotel Santa Barbara real, which belongs to the same owner. Stay away.

The rooftop breakfast was great, and I had a good time at Draft bar, a great spot for food and drinks. Rooms and service were awesome. Everything is nearby, though you’ll need a ride since the hotel is next to a highway. It was pouring when I arrived, and with no hotel name on the front of the building, I had a hard time finding it. If it’s your first visit, look for the bar named 'Draft' to locate the hotel.

We stayed four nights. I’d seen the earlier reviews and had some concerns, but for the price I was happy. The room was comfortable, the towels were fine, service was good, and breakfast on the rooftop was nice. I’d stay here again without a problem.
