Hotel Galería Casa de La Luz

Warning, I paid the front desk woman for three nights when I checked in. After two nights, that same woman told me I had already stayed three nights and asked if I was checking out or paying for another one. I showed her photos to prove I'd only been there two nights, but she didn't understand and didn't apologize either. The standard room has no window or air conditioning, and it smells musty.

This is a really interesting hotel in a big colonial house, with a smart modern update that turns it into a nice place. I'd recommend it for a short visit, though it isn't comfortable enough for a longer stay.

The staff were all friendly, especially Felipe, who welcomed me and gave helpful ideas about places to see. The hotel is beautifully decorated and comfortable, with a great breakfast and wonderful coffee. You can walk to lots of museums, restaurants, plazas, government buildings, and markets from this perfect location. Definitely recommend it.

If you're after a cozy place right in the downtown area, this is good value, and breakfast is included and quite good. Depending on whether you're with family, a partner, or a friend, check the room first. Ours had only a thin wall separating the bathroom, with no wooden door, so sounds and smells carried. There was quite a bit of noise, though it got quiet after 10 pm and stayed that way until before 7 am.
