Hotel Morrison Zona Rosa

Great location, but it was loud all night, right up until 3 in the morning. The breakfast wasn't good, and I couldn't get help with anything. Staff were rude and unhelpful, especially the woman at reception.

The staff were pleasant and spoke good English, and the hotel is in a great location for a very fair price. Best of all, both my friend and I were allowed to check in several hours early. I thought I'd just leave my bags, but the host smiled and said, "of course, if we have any of your room type available, you can check-in now." Later, I needed an ATM in the late evening, and someone at the front desk spent about 10 minutes helping me find one that was open. Next time I'm in Bogota, I'm coming straight here. 10/10.

Avoid this place. They charged me around 20% VAT even though I'm a tourist, and told me that was normal. I later stayed at two other hotels in Colombia and neither charged me VAT. When I was leaving the country, I spoke with the immigration office, and they said tourists don't pay VAT, so I felt I'd been scammed. I asked the hotel for a refund, but they refused and then stopped replying to my messages.

I'd call it a decent hotel, maybe 3.5 stars rather than 3, but nothing amazing. Service is good: they reach out and respond. There's a hotel right next to the lobby, an amazing gym right next door, and the area around it is always buzzing and pretty great. The rooms could have a better feel to them. The charging ports aren't close enough, the bathroom is tiny with no exhaust, which really sucks when you're sharing a twin room with another guy, and toiletries are very limited. Nothing too terrible, though. All in all, good, just not amazing.
