The location is great, but the hotel itself left me unhappy. The elevator was very old and small, and its ride felt shaky and intense enough that we worried it might fall. The sink was clogged, so the water wouldn’t drain. We could hear a lot through the walls, both from the hallway and the first floor. There weren’t many amenities either: no floor towel, hair dryer, or slippers. Service was average, neither terrible nor great. We had planned to stay four nights, but after a bad first night we decided to change hotels and request a refund. The hotel said it had to wait for the manager to return in two days. We had booked through booking.com, which said we could cancel the remaining nights if we appeared at check-in. We were told the refund process would take 8-12 days. I wouldn’t come back. I’d choose a larger hotel in another district with more effective service.

The staff were very nice, and the location was good. My room was tiny, there was no AC, and the street noise came through. I also wasn’t sure the towels were clean.

The beds were very, very firm, so that may not suit everyone. Still, the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They were helpful and accommodating despite the quirks of staying in a historic hotel, and even packed breakfast for us when we checked out early.

I loved the soft wallpaper and the old elevator, and the fresh breakfast each morning was really tasty. The place felt historic and nostalgic, and the staff were very friendly.
