LA COLINA Hotel Cottage

The owner was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful, with lots of good advice while I was there. Breakfast was five-star, and the hotel restaurant served outstanding food, honestly Michelin-level. A fantastic place to stay if you want to experience Colombian style and lifestyle. I’d highly recommend it.

The owners were great, and the rooms were lovely. We had a fabulous dinner and the staff were efficient and polite, though I wouldn’t describe them as especially warm or charming. Uber drivers got confused because the place is at the end of a dead-end road. I might come back.

The setting is beautiful, the vibe is great, and the food was excellent, just what I’d hoped for on our first night in Bogotá. But I didn’t feel very welcome, especially around Frederico. Maybe my Spanish wasn’t good enough, or maybe it was because I’m American, but I often felt like a nuisance instead of a guest. I asked for a space heater for my girlfriend and it never arrived. Room #4 had charm, but the bathroom needs work: the shower soaked everything, and water sprayed from both the toilet and the sink. This hotel has a lot going for it, including a gorgeous setting and an outstanding restaurant, but guests should feel welcome too.

Dinner on our second night was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere on our travels. The room was cozy and quiet, looking onto a small, closed courtyard, and the whole place had a peaceful feel with eclectic artwork. The owners and staff were warm and welcoming. What a hidden gem in Bogota, we’d happily recommend it for a relaxing stay.
