Tatami Hostel

Bucaramanga deserves more attention as a destination in Colombia. If you're unsure about visiting, I'd say give it a try, and Tatama hostel is a great choice. The hostel sits in a pleasant, comfortable neighborhood that's easy to explore on foot. Big thanks to Jorge, who went out of his way to welcome me and explain where to go and how to get around Bucaramanga.

If you're after somewhere peaceful, this hostel could be a good fit. It's in a large, nice house in a fairly quiet and safe neighborhood. Megamall and parque del agua are about a 10-15 minute walk away. Most of Bucaramanga's main sights are a bit farther from here.

It's a quiet spot with good Wi-Fi, but cleanliness needs attention in some places, especially the kitchen. I saw several cockroaches, including one in my room that I had to kill, and there were a crazy number of ants everywhere.

Los Pinos felt like home too, with little shops and bakeries nearby and most things you need in a big city close at hand, while still being peaceful. I spent three months living and volunteering at Tatami Hostel, and it was a truly special time. I felt at home from the moment I arrived, thanks to the colorful, picturesque decor, which was reassuring since I was going to stay for months. I wanted a place to rest, unwind, and make meaningful connections, and the hosts and employees, now dear friends, helped me feel I belonged in Bucaramanga. I was happy at Tatami.
