Playa Koralia

I spent a week at Playa Koralia for the first time and had a magical stay. The atmosphere is calm, the rooms are beautiful and individual, and the food is healthy and delicious. Everyone on staff was super friendly. It’s not a party hotel, though some nights there’s live music at the bar, which was a lot of fun. The band at the restaurant was spectacular too. I can’t wait to come back next year.

This is a place to relax, do yoga, and enjoy some peace. I liked hearing the ocean from my room. Playa Koralia has detached cabins and most of the amenities you’d expect in a city hotel, but it’s remote. My cabin had no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan, and the bathroom was private but outside the room. Food was pretty good, though serving hours are limited. We had good service at the restaurant and bar, and enjoyed a massage at the spa. I think a full hour cost about $30 USD. Getting from the main road to the hotel means taking a one-way unpaved road about half a mile long, but an ordinary car can manage it.

A clean, cozy, beautiful place to relax and do nothing else. The employees are lovely, and the spa was amazing.

The room was advertised with a queen bed and a twin, but the supposed twin was just a tiny couch fixed to the wall. The crib I’d requested came in pieces, with the mattress and sheets in a trash bag, and I had to put it together myself. I left after one night because they never offered a solution that gave us the proper room and bed. Service was very poor throughout. The restaurant was understaffed, with nobody greeting guests or bringing water, and menus came late. When I asked about changing rooms, the staff member in charge said she needed time to work out the right price, but nothing was resolved. I escalated the complaint through my credit card company before I could reach the manager. The manager gave false information, made empty promises, and never followed up. For what they charge, this hotel is overpriced, badly managed, and far below expectations.
