Torca Hotel

The rooftop bar has a great city view, and the food there is good. The location is decent too, though it can get noisy during a game because it’s right across from the soccer stadium. The rooms were clean. That’s about all the good I can say. I would never stay here again, even if I were paid to. The customer service was horrible, the accommodations were poor, and the whole seven-night business stay was exhausting. I didn’t choose the hotel; the group hosting our training had prepaid for everyone. We’d reserved months ahead and clearly requested a king bed, but at check-in the young woman said there wasn’t one and didn’t try to help. An older worker overheard and explained how to rearrange things to make it possible. It was the start of a long run of staff who seemed to have no customer service training and were rude and disrespectful. Breakfast was the same every morning and not appetizing. It was served until 9:30, but twice I came down at 8:40 to find almost no food left, and they refused to bring more. The beds were hard, there were no basic complimentary toiletries, and the bathroom outlet was broken. When I called maintenance, the worker said a replacement was on order and offered only an extension cord. One day there was just one towel, and the young woman at the desk gave me a hard time when I asked for another. The hotel had only a few irons, so it was difficult to get one. After we finally did, staff woke us at 5:30 the next morning to take it back because another guest needed it. The pool was closed for almost our entire stay. There was a lounge and work area by the pool, but whenever I went to work there, employees were eating and relaxing as if it were their lounge. This seemed like a management problem and a lack of training among mostly very young staff. Our worst night was the last one. We returned from an excursion to find loud music and lots of drunk, rowdy people going in and out. We were told the event would go until 2am. Our room on the fifth floor was right below the party area, and the live band, dancing, and noise kept us awake. Several of us complained, but staff said it was the hotel owner's party and they couldn't do anything. The owner was making guests uncomfortable for his own enjoyment. It felt like the problems started at the top, with no care for guests’ comfort or safety. I wish I could give zero stars.
