Hotel Aixo Suites By Geh Suites

The free breakfast and coffee were nice. The room was okay if you only need somewhere to sleep, but there wasn’t enough space for four people to unpack at once, so we had to take turns opening our suitcases. The sheets didn’t seem very clean, and traffic and people outside were loud at night. Our TV didn’t work either. The person who came to help said it was a hotel wide problem, though we saw other TVs working as we passed open rooms.

The ocean view from our Superior Double room was beautiful, but the room was tiny and barely big enough for my group. We had to take turns opening our suitcases, and the bunk bed felt very flimsy. A hanging lamp right above the top bunk ladder made climbing up difficult. We also found three bugs in the room, and there were still stains on the sheets after they were changed, so it didn’t feel very clean. The TV wasn’t working. Staff told us it was a hotel wide issue, which I’m skeptical about since we could see and hear other TVs working through open doors. When we raised it, they were dismissive and suggested we didn’t know how to use a TV. That may be possible, but its error message clearly pointed to a connectivity issue. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Really happy with the choice. The location is good, the staff are very friendly, and breakfast was delicious and huge. There’s a rooftop swimming pool with an amazing view of the city and sea.

I booked rooms for seven people and a three month old baby through booking.com months ahead. I chose this hotel for its location near the cartagena letters, the chiba rumbera pickup spot right outside at 7pm, and the rooftop pool. I contacted the hotel on WhatsApp at least seven times to check the reservation and ask if I could pay in advance. Each time, they assured me it was confirmed and that payment would be handled through booking.com using the card on file. I told them I was on my way and wouldn’t have service on the highway, and asked them to contact me on WhatsApp since I had bought a national Sim card for international data. The drive from minca, santa marta to cartagena takes about five hours. At 4pm on the way to the aixo hotel, I checked the reservation again and they confirmed it. But when I arrived at 5:30pm, it had somehow been canceled. They offered other rooms at double the price, then said they couldn’t honor the booking unless they sent us to Abi in. That wrecked my plans and cost me about three hours. I didn’t get rooms until 7:44pm, and had to deal with a crying baby the whole time. I missed the pre-recerved chiba rumbera, the rooftop pool overlooking the sea, and a walk to the cartagena letters. Thanks for ruining my last night in the country. I won’t book again.
