Casa Moraira

We stayed in the Luna room, with its king bed and nice bathroom. It was quiet at night, and there was a security guard on duty all night. This charming colonial-style house is in the heart of Getsemaní, a short walk from Cartagena’s historic old town. Despite the central location, the street was peaceful, away from the busy noise nearby. The interior patio has a small jacuzzi-style pool, and there are five comfortable bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and inviting lounge spaces. Everything felt clean and well kept, with tasteful décor and a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, with fresh fruit, eggs made to order, and Colombian coffee. The attentive service added to our stay. Rates can feel a little high in low season, though they're in line with similar boutique houses in Cartagena. There’s cable TV (Movistar) and reliable internet, too, which made it a good base for a few days of exploring.

After days out exploring in the sun, the pool area was just right for relaxing. Casa Moraira is also well placed, with lots of nice restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. Our room was spacious, clean, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, and breakfast was truly top tier. We had a perfect stay and would absolutely recommend it.

We stayed for three nights, and even though our room faced the street, it was very quiet at night. The hotel has a unique boutique feel, and the bed was super comfortable. Nancy hosted us and was so kind and patient, even though our Spanish isn't great. We appreciated her making an effort across the language barrier. We had breakfast every morning, with eggs, toast, plenty of fruit, and lots of coffee. One morning we were rushing, and she kindly insisted on making breakfast for us. A lovely lady!

Although we had a confirmed, non-refundable reservation through Booking.com, the hotel contacted us a week later to say the price had gone up and demanded that we pay the difference or they would cancel. That isn't how a confirmed non-refundable booking should work. We refused and tried to sort it out through Booking.com, but the hotel cancelled anyway without a proper explanation. The whole thing felt completely unprofessional and dishonest. They don't seem to respect confirmed bookings or basic booking rules, and appear to raise prices afterward and pressure guests to pay more. Don't book here. You could lose your reservation and possibly your money. If reliability, transparency, or peace of mind matter to you, stay away.
