Hotel Caribbean Cartagena

The restaurant is 🔥, with great prices, and the location and service were good too. I’m definitely coming back.

The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. There’s a nice little ocean view from the restaurant. Breakfast was included, though a lot of the buffet was empty, even the coffee, an hour before it ended. There was also a leak in the hallway roof. Good, just not great.

I was traveling solo and felt safe here. The room was spacious and clean, with a huge TV and a lovely sea view. The pool is small, but it’s right by the water, with waves crashing just inches from my feet, which more than made up for it. The local, traditional breakfast was yummy, and everyone from the front desk to the bar and breakfast team gave excellent service. They spoke no English and I spoke no Spanish, but language didn’t get in the way. Special thanks to Roberto, who went out of his way to help me.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the area seemed safe. For a budget stay away from the town’s hustle and bustle, though still not very far from it, this is a decent option in Cartagena. Just don’t expect five star quality or amenities. It was okay, just okay. My room was a good size, with a fridge, little table and chair, and a balcony with a nice view. The AC didn’t cool well. The hotel has a small pool and a jacuzzi, which a lot of the other small hotels don’t, plus its own restaurant and bar. Breakfast is provided, and you can buy lunch or dinner there. I think the restaurant is open to the public too. There are bigger hotels all around. One thing I’ve noticed about hotel photos in general is they often look like they were taken when the place was new and pristine, so they don’t show the wear and tear over the years.
