Marlin Hostel

The staff are friendly, and the place is affordable and clean, with modest little rooms. You can opt for air conditioning, and there’s free WiFi and cold drinks downstairs. It's a bit run down and can get noisy at night from the dance clubs. Most historic sights are about a 15-minute walk away.

We had a lovely time on the rooftop at Christmas Eve, and the location is very good with a great breakfast. My necklace was stolen from my room, which was unfortunate. I guess these things happen anywhere.

There weren't windows or ventilation in the room, and no AC either. Just a tiny ceiling fan that wobbled. The rooms are right by the entrance, so they're loud, and I didn't think much of the staff. Hostels have better private rooms for less.

Hotel Marlin was fairly priced compared with the other private rooms we checked. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly, but they don't speak English, so if you don't know any Spanish, you'll need Google Translate to communicate.
