One Day Hostel

We stayed in the hostel's newer house, with around six or seven rooms, and the location was great, with restaurants all around. It’s in a backpacker area that’s less crowded than the old city center, and people nearby were really nice. Nobody kept trying to sell us useless stuff. The rooftop whirlpool is there too, as shown in the photos. Breakfast was good, with toast, eggs, fruit, and coffee or tea, and the WiFi worked the whole time. Our room had a safe. The room itself was clean, though it wasn't cleaned during our three-day stay. The shower had no head, which was a bit odd, and the water was only lukewarm, though that was still okay for me since I'm a mollycoddle. We’d recommend it at the same price.

We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation is in a great spot and was very clean, and the host took care of everything within minutes. There’s a lovely whirlpool on the roof, good restaurants just a two-minute walk away, and shops right next door.

The hostel's cleanliness really let it down. When we arrived, our sheets looked dirty and had hair all over them. We asked to have them changed, and they said they would, but after we followed up, they said sheets are changed every two days. They still wouldn't change ours, and we stayed for five days. The bathrooms and shower were absolutely filthy and only cleaned once a day, which wasn't enough. I can't describe how bad they got. The air conditioning, great breakfast, and prompt email replies were positives.

The rooms have air conditioning, and the staff were really friendly and helped us plan our sightseeing. We stayed one night, went to Barú for a night, then came back for two more. Staff speak both English and Spanish. The showers weren't very warm, but Cartagena is so hot that a cold one felt fine. Smoking isn't allowed in or near the building because the neighbors have asthma, though you can smoke at the street corner.
