Hotel Playa Club

The hotel's a decent deal, and the staff are friendly and try to help with requests. The front desk speaks both English and Spanish. The building feels old and dated, but it's kept very clean, and the staff work hard at that. The beach is right across the street at the back of the hotel, with the ocean pool a few hundred feet away. You can rent a large umbrella and chairs for the day for about $11. Beach vendors will approach you constantly, so just politely decline if you're not interested. They're trying to make a living too. Breakfast is included if you choose that package. It's a typical Colombian buffet, nothing fancy but enough to start the day. My one gripe was that coffee disappears when breakfast ends, so after that you have to buy it at the shop inside the hotel. There are lots of restaurants and shops within a radius of over three blocks. I hope this helps, and I think you'll enjoy your stay if you visit.

The room's window faced rooftop air conditioners and couldn't be opened for fresh air. Inside, the bathroom was moldy, the water never got very hot, the door latch was broken, and my key card stopped working. The pool area was under construction, and the staff were hard to deal with. The whole place felt very dirty. I wouldn't recommend it.

This room needs renovating. The TV didn't work, and the safe had no lock, so I had to ask reception how to use it. Breakfast was very poor, and there wasn't a hairdryer.

The service was bad in just about every way: cleanliness, organization, room service, things in the room not working, and even cockroaches in the room. As a Colombian, I wanted an inexpensive, nice weekend, but I really regret choosing this place. I definitely won't be back.
