Joinn Hotel Guatape

The people were great, and breakfast was amazing. It’s a peaceful, soothing place with beautiful views, and riding the jet skis gave us unbelievable scenery. The downsides were the very cold water, with no warm water, and spider webs in the shower and in a corner of the rooms.

The water level was unfortunately very low, perhaps 15 to 20 feet below where it should be, which made the stay feel a little sad. I also wouldn’t drink anything from the fridge. I’d ask for it to be empty next time, since those drinks cost me an extra $100. I brought food in the rental car and parked outside apartment number 15 without any issues. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice and we saw other people dining there. Guatape is only an 8-minute drive away. The two-bedroom apartment was beautiful, and I loved the jacuzzi. I’d asked for the BBQ too, which was another $30. One thing that needs fixing is the gate access later in the evening. I had to wait and contact the office myself to get the side gate opened. I’d probably stay somewhere else next time, since a little more money would get you better options.

The views were spectacular, and we’d definitely return. From our arrival onward, the staff were quick to help with room service, food, drinks, or a cab. Cesar and Ellena went out of their way to make sure my wife and I had a pleasant stay.

I wouldn’t come during the rainy season, especially if you’re planning activities. The place is quite nice, though, and the hot tubs on the balconies are a game changer. The showers are good too, with strong pressure and hot water.
