The restaurant was the best part for us: good food and service, and the surrounding nature is majestic, well worth coming to for lunch during the day. But our room in the Superior Suite had no sound insulation from other rooms or floors. We heard the neighbors talking and using the toilet, and couldn't sleep. In the middle of the night, a man was honking and shouting, waking the whole hotel. The room was clean, but so dim you couldn't even read a book. I wouldn't recommend staying here, or at least not in the room we had.

Casa Tuirak turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. We had considered Salento, but were glad we based ourselves here for the area. The rooms are good even at the lowest price, with plants around them, ventilation instead of AC, comfortable beds, and a good standard. The heated pool has a lovely jungle view and service by the pool. They also offer morning yoga and Compound Hikes. Reception responded quickly and arranged transport, trips, and other things, and the restaurant staff were kind and attentive. The food was fantastic throughout the day, and I'd go there even as an outside guest. It's about 30 minutes from the airport and 40 minutes from Salento and Filandia, with coffee farms nearby. Jefferson was our driver and the cherry on top. A few things to keep in mind: food, drinks, and other services are on the expensive side. It's quite remote, so without a car, getting a regular cab or Uber is a gamble and you're reliant on the hotel's service. You'll need Spanish for everything. It's humid, clothes barely dry and there's a greenhouse smell, so bring mosquito repellent. Breakfast starts at 8am, which is late if you're heading out to somewhere like Cocora. The last Spa appointment is at 3pm, and later service would help guests who want to do other activities during the day.

Yoga and the hike down to the river with Juan were a highlight, a great mix of nature, relaxation, and adventure. I'd recommend it to anyone staying here. Jeffery also deserves a special mention for keeping our transportation organized and easy. From arrival onward, the service at Hotel Casa Tuirak was warm, professional, and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were consistently fresh and delicious. This was my first visit to Colombia, and the stay left me with an unforgettable first impression. I'll definitely return, highly recommend!

I had an incredible time at the presidential villa, where I proposed to my girlfriend. The food was great too, especially the truffle fries, best I've ever had.

Casa Tuirak has cultural value as a project, but the experience needs management and communication that match what's promised. This isn't a criticism of the staff: they're friendly, respectful, and dedicated. The international vision still doesn't come through in the guest experience, and key areas need work, including basic comfort, accessibility and signs, safety, and staff training. Guests should be told before booking what the rooms actually include. The sanctuary concept means no air conditioning or television, which is fine if clearly stated. Only the presidential suites have a television. Basic amenities aren't included, and the water supply can fail. There are no room phones for emergencies, so all contact depends on WhatsApp. If WiFi goes down, guests have no way to communicate. Menus and signs throughout the project should also be bilingual, including English. The terrain requires a lot of mobility. Wet paths and stairs can be dangerous, and signs to rooms and other areas aren't clear. Because of the mobility involved and the sanctuary's terrain, this place isn't suitable for children, people with disabilities, or older adults. There should be fresh Colombian coffee available in the morning before 8am. The view is there to enjoy, but the restaurant is closed until then, and provisions in the room aren't a substitute for freshly made coffee. Refunds were only partial despite the problems. Our friends booked a presidential suite for three days, left on their arrival day, and received no refund. We also didn't get the full amount back. Future guests should know that Casa Tuirak suits people looking for complete disconnection and nature, provided they're aware of the actual conditions beforehand.
