La Victoria Hotel Campestre

The road was fine, and any type of car can make it, so don’t be put off by the other comments. The property was beautiful and the service excellent. Everything was spectacular, highly recommended.

Really nice atmosphere, comfortable rooms, tasty food, and good service. We had a great time.

I gave it one star only because there isn’t a lower rating. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The facilities were generally nice, with a few minor issues, but the customer service was appalling. The staff were friendly themselves, yet management seemed to have no grasp of customer service or the logistics of running a hotel and restaurant. Every meal was an ordeal. Orders weren’t taken properly, tables got mixed up, waits were absurd, and sometimes food never arrived. We’d just get a look that said they’d forgotten. Staff blamed one another, and nobody seemed able to resolve problems or organize the service. Across three days, we didn’t have one acceptable mealtime experience. Then, after we left, I realized I’d forgotten a watch in the room. I asked whether it had been found and got no response for several days, perhaps because of the company’s disorganization, if it can even be called a company. Then the so-called owner called and humiliated me, saying he didn’t need to steal a watch and could afford to buy one himself. Hahaha. That call made it clear why the business feels like a facade: friendly employees on the surface, with management from “above” turning it into a cesspool. If the supposed owner had listened to my request and run even a halfway decently organized company, he wouldn’t have needed to treat someone who stayed there and spent money so badly over the phone.

The road just before the hotel is in poor condition, and with the prices being considerable, the property should be kept in better shape. My husband had booked a room two weeks ahead for our anniversary, but the room we got on arrival was damp and smelled like mold. We were moved the next day to the room that had been reserved, only to find very dirty curtains, walls, and blankets. Management was terrible.
