La Martinera Parque Central

The price was especially good for everything included. Our room had a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water in the shower, and reliable Wi-Fi. We were just two people but got a spacious apartment set up for seven, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a big living room, and a kitchen stocked for preparing and serving meals for up to eight. La Martinera Plaza is right beside the small bus terminal, so it’s easy to find when arriving by bus. It seems suited to solo travelers, couples, or groups of up to seven.

After a long trip, we were left scrambling at the last minute for somewhere to stay in a town that was already full. I’d booked Martinera Parque Central three weeks ahead and received several confirmation emails and photos saying everything was in order, but at check-in they told us at the apartment door that it wasn’t available and wasn’t even theirs, but belonged to another company. They offered a different apartment much farther away from the one we’d paid for. I felt cheated. After losing hours, we had to contact Expedia ourselves to get a refund. The Martinera manager was negligent and unfriendly, with no apparent interest in what had happened. I wouldn’t recommend it because of the poor service and misleading advertising.

Across from the park, with bars, restaurants, and supermarkets close by, this is a handy spot. The boardwalk is nearby for a walk, watching ducks, or enjoying the water attractions, though police rules restrict access on New Year’s Eve. The place itself was comfortable and clean. They left kitchen and cleaning supplies, plus extra blankets for when it gets a little chilly. It was peaceful during our stay.

The location is ideal. You’ll need a taxi to get here from Medellin airport.
