Waira Suites Hotel

We had lunch here. The tuna was excellent and the other fish dish was okay, but the soup wasn’t good at all.

Manchas is the real star, the bestest good boy ever. Seriously, service here is top tier, and there’s a lot to like: two pools, a bar, a great restaurant, and plenty of places to relax. The rooms are nice and the beds fairly comfortable. The restaurant is probably one of the nicest and highest rated in the city, and drink prices at the hotel are fair. Service is quick and always with a smile. My one small gripe is that you can’t take drinks into the pool area. I wanted to sit by the pool with a beer and a book. And Manchas, the hotel’s boss dog, is a helpful member of staff who’ll even walk around the city with you.

The construction noise made it hard to sleep during my stay at Waira Suites Hotel. Workers were painting a mural by the pool and in the hallways near my room, and they kept working through the night with loud music, as late as 3 AM. I complained, but nothing changed. At checkout, no one apologized, and they couldn’t arrange a taxi, which caused another hassle. The room itself was underwhelming, with basic amenities and noticeable wear. It was at the far end of the hotel in a dark corner, with a window facing the hallway instead of outside. I’d expected a bit more from a place known as one of the better hotels in Leticia, though my expectations weren’t especially high. Check-in was smooth and the staff seemed friendly. Booking was initially difficult because the hotel website kept crashing, so I had to use Booking.com. I can’t recommend Waira Suites Hotel given how poorly they handled the disruption and guest comfort. I’ll share a great alternative a few roads away in my next review.

The staff’s kindness really stays with you. Our room was comfortable for the three of us, parents and kid, and everything was clean and organized. The manager was around all the time. Breakfast and dinner had great choices, though we didn’t eat lunch at the hotel. We loved Princess and Manchas and miss them so much!
