Hotel Alcazar Medellin

The place was overbooked on booking.com.

I can't recommend this place. The bedrooms were filthy and the sheets dirty. Changing them didn't help, since every fresh sheet they put on was stained and bloody. The bathrooms were unusable: tiny, with barely enough room to fit in the shower, no shower door, and toilets without lids. There were cockroaches everywhere. If you want somewhere clean and comfortable where you can have some peace and quiet, this isn't it.

We booked two nights, but from the first day the stay was awful. The person who checked us in was incredibly friendly, yet upstairs we found cockroaches, dirty and stained sheets, and a musty smell. Our room was meant for five people, had no windows, and smelled damp. We went back to reception to ask for another room. They said it wasn't possible, since the only two family rooms were identical and windowless. We also tried to cancel the second night, but were told we'd already paid and couldn't cancel the next day. I went out to find another hotel because this one was filthy. As we left reception, I said I would leave a review. They replied, "You have every right to do whatever you want." The hotel was rude, unprofessional, and unclean, with poor reception and customer service. I wouldn't recommend it to any family, whether staying one, two, three, or more nights.

You won't get much sleep here. It's noisy day and night, and the hotel isn't in a safe area, so arrive early. The mattresses are the worst in the world, whatever the lovely photos suggest, and for the price you're likely to run into undesirable people. The receptionist leaves a lot to be desired too. In two words, garbage. Booking.com, you're doing a poor job recommending this place.
