Hotel Casa 73 Deluxe

This isn’t a boutique or fancy hotel, but it has what you need without costing too much. Daniela and Micheli were very nice and welcoming. It’s a friendly neighborhood with shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, banks and ATMs, plus a metro station nearby. You can take an Uber to places like Comuna 13, Poblado, Pueblito Paisa, and Downtown Medellín in 15-20 minutes, or use the metro to get around locally. A good option for solo travelers or couples who want to experience local life.

I had cockroaches in my room on the second night. I took the bin outside, came back, and found another one. There’s no 24-hour reception, so nobody came. I left a message that night, but no one showed up first thing in the morning either. I have a phobia of these insects and couldn’t sleep. When I returned from eating out, because I didn’t want breakfast there after what happened, I found yet another cockroach in the bathroom. I’d already told the staff, but they hadn’t done anything. Another roommate had also found cockroaches in her separate room the night before. The room I was assigned had no ventilation at all, not even basic airflow. It was damp, with visible mold stuck to the walls, and water pooled in the shower instead of drying. It wasn’t properly cleaned either, they only made the bed. It may not be expensive, but that doesn’t excuse poor cleaning and pest control. Despite the good reviews, my experience was awful and I definitely don’t recommend it.

Casa 73 Deluxe is in an excellent location in a safe area, close to the transport station, stadium, restaurants, and famous 70th Street. I felt comfortable walking around at night. The hotel is clean and has what you need for a few days or even weeks, and the breakfasts are delicious. The staff are kind and provide excellent service. I left very happy, and people who know me know I only recommend places I’m sure won’t disappoint. Thank you, Casa 73 Deluxe. I hope to visit again soon.

For one night, it’s okay. The breakfasts are simple, with two varieties, enough to get the day started. Reception is supposedly open 24 hours, but staff sleep overnight, so if you come back late you have to ring the bell to wake them and get the door opened. They may charge extra for something that doesn’t meet the rules, even if you don’t see it.
