Lady Mom Hostal

I'm staying at Lady mom right now, and it's been such a great experience. Abraham, lady and Vivi have been so sweet and ready to help with anything I needed. The food is delicious, too. I'd highly recommend them!

The room was filthy, with bugs and spiders crawling around, and mold all over the place. It felt really unhealthy to stay there. The bedsheets were stained and dirty, and the replacements I asked for were bad too. When it rained, water came through the roof and dripped onto the bed. I don't understand the good reviews. If you don't want to stay in a complete rathole, don't go to this hostel!

The kitchen situation threw off our plans. The listing said there was a kitchen, but when we arrived, we were told it was only available at certain hours when the attached restaurant wasn't open. There was also an issue with the extra guest payment. The booking was originally for one person, but my arrival on the second day had been cleared with the host, and we agreed on extra cash for the additional guest. The host didn't have enough change and promised to get it to us, but never did. They still owe us 10,000 Colombian pesos. There were problems with the space itself, too. The door knob was slightly broken, which made us uneasy about the security of our belongings. The shower was dirty on arrival, the sheets were unclean, and the ill-fitting window screens let bugs in. Without a fan, the room got uncomfortably warm. The host didn't deal with these issues promptly. They also falsely claimed in their Airbnb review that we checked out late, which isn't true. The whole stay left us very dissatisfied and frustrated. We expected a clean, comfortable place with accurate information and clear communication, and didn't get that. There are many better options in Medellin. I hope this feedback helps the host improve and helps others choose where to stay.

The neighborhood was quiet and close to the metro, and the staff were extremely friendly. The food and coffee were fantastic. Four nights here cost me what I'd pay for one night at other places in Poblado.
