Loma Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Breakfast made it easy to head out and explore Medellín, and everyone at Loma was kind and flexible throughout our stay. Christian, who runs the wellness facilities, tailored things to us and made us feel like the only guests there. The team really went out of their way to meet our needs.

The morning service was the low point by far. When my key stopped working, reception took it and silently stared at the computer. At breakfast, nobody greeted me or offered help. I tried asking at the egg station in both English and Spanish, then stopped several staff members to ask for coffee, but got no response. I ended up getting my own coffee, juice, and cutlery without anyone acknowledging me. It felt surreal and was unacceptable. The front desk manager did contact me after I asked, listened, and apologized. I appreciated that, though it doesn't undo such a complete failure of service. There were plenty of things I liked about Hotel Loma Medellín. The sauna was properly hot, unlike the weak ones at many hotels, and the showers made it easy and enjoyable to switch between heat and cold water. The night staff were friendly, and let my second guest sit in the lobby late at night, listen to music, and have one last drink in a safe, relaxed setting. I also liked the landscaping and think more greenery indoors would improve the atmosphere. My room was spacious and comfortable, but could use a few basics: towels in the kitchenette and a second luggage stand. Netflix worked on the TV, but live channels didn't, even with the DirecTV remote. The room felt a little cold and bare, and would be more inviting with art, rugs, and extra pillows. There was a laundry bag but no laundry slip. The hotel does offer laundry by weight, at a reasonable hotel price. I booked at the last minute, and initially thought I'd made a great choice. Check-in was easy and my early requests were handled quickly. After checkout, I was glad I could grab a snack and still use the sauna, which can be reserved about an hour ahead. The afternoon food was good, including a burger, grilled corn tapa, and meatball tapa, and the service then was solid. The spacious rooms, good food, sauna, friendly night team, and pleasant grounds make this a hotel I want to like. I'm willing to try it again and hope management sorts out the serious morning service problems, because a paying guest shouldn't be ignored at breakfast.

The facilities themselves were decent, but I strongly suspect payment fraud. Hotel staff claimed my card payments hadn't gone through and repeatedly tried to charge me again, even though every transaction had been approved and charged successfully. I lost money as a result, and the hotel has not responded at all. I sent several complaint emails without receiving a reply. I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed by how staff handled this and by management's response. Be very careful when paying on site.

The staff were amazingly helpful with taxis and arranging tours to see the sights, and the hotel was great value for its quality. I spent six comfortable, wonderful nights at Loma Hotel. The bed was the most comfortable, the rooms were just right, and everything was completely quiet among the mountains. Breakfast was excellent and the shower had strong pressure. Five stars.
