I get what people mean when they say they’d give zero stars if they could. This was easily my worst stay anywhere in the world. The staff were courteous, but the hotel’s policies and follow-through were awful. We waited over two hours for our original sheets to be replaced with ones that were possibly clean. Clean sheets should have been there at check-in; we still found hair on a pillow, but we were too tired to ask again. The breakfast included in our reservation wasn’t provided, and instead of helping, they told us to sort it out with the booking company because it was a “common problem.” If it happens often, management should try to fix it. From our room I could see into other people’s rooms, which was uncomfortable and meant we had to keep the blinds shut, making it feel even more like a cell. The area is busy and noisy at night; my partner and I sleep heavily, so we managed to fall asleep, but construction woke us at 7 in the morning. As I write this, I can’t even talk to my partner beside me. To add to the noise, there’s nonstop drilling and hammering beyond the wall on our fourth floor. If you want to sleep past 7:30 a.m., maybe ask for a room away from the construction zone for now.

I wouldn’t stay here. The service was hopeless and the staff unfriendly. The rooms are old and decrepit, with peeling paint, frayed towels, and hard beds. Breakfast was cold and greasy, and wasn’t a self-serve buffet. Music blared from the street, the shower took five minutes to get hot, and there was no floor mat. The location was inconvenient too.

The room was very clean and had a wow factor, with a comfortable bed and pillows, a safe, AC, one and a half closets, a mirror, and a desk. There’s a breakfast area on the ground floor. The location is very central, on lively streets, and Estadio metro is a ten-minute walk away. Staff handled requests efficiently and were great with Google Translate, though they don’t speak English. Customer service gets four stars from me, and the location and facilities get five. Comfort gets two and a half: bars and party buses nearby play stubborn bass beats past 3 a.m., the walls aren’t insulated, and earplugs don’t seem to help. My only complaint is that the music goes beyond 3.

Our room was small, had no window facing outside, painfully slow Wi-Fi, and odd banging sounds throughout the day. It also wasn’t ready when we arrived. We left our number and asked the front desk to call when we could check in, but nobody ever called. When we lifted the covers, we found pubic hairs and food crumbs on the sheets. It took three calls to the front desk and two and a half hours to get them changed. We’d paid for the more expensive option with free breakfast, but were told breakfast wasn’t included. You’ve been warned.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the evening meal was surprisingly good. Breakfast gets a little monotonous after a week. The location is convenient, but noisy because of the nearby bars. I wouldn’t call this a four-star hotel, more like a three: there’s no water in the rooms or mug in the bathroom, and the hotel itself is very noisy too. Sounds from the kitchen travel up the central well to the top floors early in the morning, and running water will get you up early every day. Bring earplugs.
