Finca Hotel La Chagra

For the price, it was good, though a few basics could use attention. The pool needs better upkeep, and it would be nice if breakfast changed at least twice a week. Towels and sheets could be improved too. I’d been traveling for a while but was still fairly new to Google, and I usually don’t plan trips “in the budget” like this one. I mention that so you won’t be put off the place. 🤗

I ended up stranded in a village where most people supposedly depend on tourism, after the hotel shut me out. I’d booked ahead through Booking and expected to check in late because of international travel. On the day I arrived, they sent two conflicting WhatsApp messages just seven minutes apart, first confirming my reservation, then canceling it because I hadn’t replied right away. I showed them our earlier conversation when I got there, but they still refused to let me in. When I called for an explanation, they blamed Booking’s policies. While I was contacting Booking customer service, the hotel threatened to call the tourist police. I was also threatened, and felt my safety and well-being as a tourist could be at risk. The service was absolutely terrible, the worst I’ve experienced. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The people here are really kind, the breakfast is very good, and the pool is great. It’s also pretty quiet at night, which made it easy to rest. Parque del café is only 10 minutes away, so it’s a convenient spot if you’re going there.

A calm place to stay, with a nice pool. I had a great experience here.
