We had a comfortable vacation here in 2010, with plenty of fun things to do for two full families. It felt safe and secure.

The facilities were nice, but the experience was unpleasant enough that my husband and I chose other accommodations. Cleanliness was extremely poor, and the service was terrible. They tried to come into our room while we were asleep without knocking. On the first day, breakfast had been left on the table since eight in the morning; by the time we came down it was cold, and no one had even asked what we wanted. The pool was so dirty we couldn’t use it. We only noticed the pool table on the day we decided to leave, and it had never been offered to us.

Don Yamil was the bright spot: kind, attentive, and serving delicious breakfasts. He also cleans the rooms and looks after the property. But if they want to provide hotel services, they clearly need to invest in a better quality stay. The access road is in poor shape for about 2 km. We booked a room days ahead, but arrived tired at night to find it already occupied. The replacement room was very hot, and the small fan they “lent” us was filthy with dust. I contacted the person managing reservations on WhatsApp, but he never replied or came to fix the issue. The room we got the next day was fine otherwise, but bats in the ceiling made a lot of noise and kept us from resting. They clearly know about the bats and haven’t fixed it. We never got a clean, working fan. Using the jacuzzi costs extra for gas, and there isn’t even a doorbell at the entrance. People arranging reservations send guests to the property in the early morning. At 2:30 a.m., a car alarm went off several times and woke us. We left that day, since it seemed they cared little or nothing about guests’ rest.

The room felt damp, had no soap, and the walls were covered in snot. There was no key for the room, so we had to use a nightstand to keep the door locked, and nobody offered a solution. Cleaning was terrible. They should put fans in the rooms or add screens to the windows so they can be opened.
