Hotel San Marcos

Patricia at reception was incredibly kind and helpful. She quickly sorted out directions, taxis, and local suggestions, and connected us with a reliable taxi company since there are no Ubers here. She also helped us find a nearby equestrian center, which turned out to be a great experience. Everyone was attentive and friendly, and clearly cared about making our stay enjoyable. The hotel is right in the heart of Paipa, an easy walk from restaurants, cafés, and shops, even though the map made it seem far from everything. The last bit of road is a dirt path, but the location is perfect once you arrive. We were welcomed warmly from the start. Breakfast was simple but generous, with coffee, granola, cereal, and someone ready to make eggs fresh however you like them. It was all tasty and freshly prepared. Our room was spacious, and the king-size bed was comfortable, though it seemed to be two beds pushed together. We slept well. Some reviews mention there’s no elevator, but that’s only an issue if stairs are difficult for you. We loved the spa too. The massage therapists were excellent, and we especially enjoyed the one-hour foot massage. The price was even better when we booked directly through WhatsApp instead of Booking.com, with no surprise fees. A solid 10/10, and highly recommended if you’re visiting Paipa.
