Huku Beach Hostel Hostel Palomino

The rooms were the nicest we've had on our trip to Colombia, and the food was delicious. It's called a hostel, but it feels like more than that. We had a lovely time, the staff were friendly and professional, and we'd recommend it and stay again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is on the cheaper side for Palomino and good value, so set your expectations with that in mind. I was in a double room that was a comfortable size for two, nicely designed, very clean, and cleaned daily with fresh towels. The bathroom was too dim at night, though, with just two small lights. We had no warm water during our whole 7 day stay. Power cuts happened sometimes at night, which is normal for Palomino, but the generator beside our room was so loud it kept us awake. It also didn't power the air conditioning, a real drawback in 35 degree heat. Breakfast was tasty and à la carte, but the staff weren't always friendly and sometimes came across as rude. The hotel was fully booked on 31 December and the kitchen clearly couldn't cope. One morning they said it was closed because they were too busy, even though breakfast was included. The grounds had a lot of potential but seemed neglected for a while. Chairs were dirty, walls were stained, and some paths were damaged. It was a good stay, but better maintenance, staffing, and basic amenities could have made it much better.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The pool is great, the beach is lovely, and everyone working there was very helpful. My clean, lovely dorm room was great value, 10 euros a night for the female dorm, and they cleaned it daily. It's about a 20 minute walk along the beach to town. The restaurant food is a bit pricey, but it's easy to walk into town for more reasonably priced meals. I also booked a massage at the hostel, and it was GREAT!!!!! Highly recommend.

The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean and spacious. A great beach front stay in Palomino. Had an excellent time at Huku and will be back!
