Hotel Simon Plaza

The room we booked was clean, but it was very basic and, to me, far too expensive. I also found the price high for the hostel's condition and location, and it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The reception area looked dirty and cluttered, with cheap carpet pieces covering sections of the floors and stairs, as if they were protecting them during renovation. A dog was running around and barking at reception. The taxi driver who brought us said the area on the edge of town's center wasn't very safe and suggested going somewhere else. I didn't stay, though I still had to pay the booking cancellation fee.

The shower head was broken, and sleeping was impossible. The roof is plastic, so when it rains at night, which seems to happen almost every night in Pereira, the noise keeps you awake. Then a rooster starts crowing every ten seconds from 4 a.m. You can also hear traffic and people talking in their rooms through the paper-thin walls. The place was dirty, with hair on the blanket, and it's in an unsafe neighborhood. To me, it seems more suited to locals looking for a quick hookup than travelers. Don't stay here.

I've stayed here twice now, in the room with the balcony. They keep the place looking almost new, and the staff are great. I'd highly recommend it.
