Hotel La Posada del Rancho

I spent a few months living in Popayan while caring for my mother, who uses a wheelchair and has PTD. We were mostly at home, so I booked a weekend break at Campestre, expecting a chance to relax. I reserved a suite with a Jacuzzi and spa treatments, and they charged my credit card for both. There were three of us because I needed help with my mother, but the suite they offered had only two beds. They said staff were busy making arrangements for a concert and nobody could bring a third bed, then suggested putting my niece in another room. I had explained my mother’s situation and asked for us to stay together before booking. The place didn’t look like the photos or match what they described over the phone. It was old, with mold on the walls, and the Jacuzzi water was cold. I called management to explain that the mold made the room unsuitable, but the on-call therapist had arrived, so after all the chaos I went ahead with the treatments, hoping to relax. There was no privacy at the spa: I got a massage in the same room where my mother was being treated, and food was delivered there too. People talked the whole time. The next day I had to redo my mother’s toenail polish because it had been applied so badly. They never refunded the 490 thousand pesos. Three weeks later, the therapists were calling me to ask for proof of payment because they hadn’t been paid. Please be careful about going there. The photos are old, and I found the owner dishonest. He promised to return my money but never did. I’ve traveled to many places, and this was my worst experience.

I booked a week ahead, but they still didn’t have enough parking. Worse, someone scratched my car and the hotel wouldn’t take responsibility. They said they couldn’t see anything on the security cameras, but wouldn’t even show me the footage. Now I have to deal with legal proceedings. The worst place I’ve stayed. Horrible!

I really liked this place, though the shower never got hot.

Everything was awful, and nothing in the room worked.
