Hotel Torreon Popayan

It's very affordable, in my opinion, and the basic accommodations are comfortable enough for the price. The location may not be strategic, and there isn't a lobby, though you can order delivery. The service wasn't adequate at the time. I don't find the area dangerous, despite the location, but it's better to be cautious and head out while it's still daylight.

The rooms are clean and the service is good, so it's suitable for a short stay if you need to be near the hospital. Rest is difficult, though. Street noise starts early in the morning because it's close to a market square, and at night homeless people nearby make the area feel unsafe.

We couldn't sleep with the constant traffic of cars, buses, dump trucks, and horse-drawn carts. The hotel is in a red-light district. On top of that, the receptionist refused to give us the room we'd reserved. We told them the night before that we were leaving early, but the receptionist parked two cars that blocked us in, making us late for an appointment. This was the worst hotel service I've ever experienced. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!

For a budget hotel, it's very nice. The beds are comfortable, and good TV and Wi-Fi made the stay much more comfortable. Each room also has a bathroom, and the shower has hot water, which is extraordinary. The neighborhood has a reputation for being very dangerous, so I wouldn't recommend walking around late at night.
