Hotel Aldea Plaza

The restaurant has a spectacular setting and a lot of atmosphere, but the food quality was mediocre. It felt like a missed opportunity. There was no wine, and the beer came in a can. With surroundings like that, they could offer a better menu and higher quality food. I’d still go, but keep your expectations in check.

Hotel Aldea Plaza has really spacious rooms that are clean and organized, and homemade food to please everyone. The staff felt like family and worked hard to make the place welcoming and make us feel at home. I enjoyed our stay a lot, and I’ll be back to my Aldea Plaza many more times. It’s the best hotel in Doradal to stay at.

The pool area is loud, with music playing, and the pool itself doesn’t feel safe for children because of sharp edges and missing tiles. Some parts of the hotel aren’t maintained. The bathrooms have no ventilation, the shower floor isn’t level so water pools instead of draining, and there’s a bad smell. It was noisy inside and outside the hotel all night. There’s a late-night bar directly below half the rooms, and the hotel let a small group record a music video inside late into the night. Stray dogs can get into every part of the hotel. They even feed them breakfast leftovers in guest areas, and the breakfast isn’t good quality. The sausage is the cheapest, highly processed chicken kind; the hot chocolate is cheap, and the scrambled eggs were dry. The waiter was unprofessional and seemed uninterested in his job. Check-in was another hassle. Staff weren’t accommodating, we spent ages filling in forms and doing the receptionist’s job for them, and they wouldn’t let us into the rooms until everyone in our party had arrived. The only good thing was the free hot and cold water at the entrance, though the water unit was dirty. Think again before booking. Sadly, there isn’t much else in town, and I’d probably avoid coming this way altogether.

For this area, it’s good. The rooms and pool were clean, and the pool is just big enough for most guests to relax. Doradal’s a quiet area. Breakfast was edible and good for the zone. Parking gets difficult in high season, but it felt safe to park on the road.
