Decameron Las Heliconias

Decameron advertises free cancellation until three days before check-in, but when I tried to cancel, they added a condition that offered no refund. Instead, the payment could only be kept as credit toward another booking at the same hotel. That feels misleading and deceptive, and I can't recommend booking with them.

For a genuine stay in Quindío, this place is a great choice. We could relax as a family, eat Colombian food, enjoy good coffee, and have fun. The tours were great, and there's a small gym that's useful. The staff were all super friendly and happy to help or answer questions. Just check the room details when booking, since some have air conditioning and some don't.

We enjoyed our stay, and the location worked well as a base for exploring the Quindio region. The place is lovely and well cared for, and our room had plenty of space for two adults and two kids. A few things made it harder for our family: our room was a long walk from the dining area for an 84-year-old, and the air-conditioned rooms were only on the second floor. There weren't clear paths to the car or enough ramps, so getting around was difficult for older visitors. Checkout took 20 minutes, and nobody explained the delay. We had to ask if we could leave, since staff hadn't checked the room.

We came for spring break with about 20 relatives, and it felt pleasantly intimate, not very crowded. I don't know how busy it gets later in the year. The views are fantastic, and the birdsong through the day was really relaxing. Most of the food was pretty good. I wasn't keen on the Hawaiian menu night, just because fruity meals aren't my thing. The restaurant that required reservations was very good. My wife's steak had more chew than I would've liked, though it tasted great.
