The location is fine, but I got the impression that money mattered more to them than the guests. They stressed being on time and paying, yet didn’t provide towels or check whether there was water. The foam mattress was uncomfortable and not very dense, the cleaning was mediocre, and a strong musty smell in the room made it hard to sleep. For $30,000 more, you could stay somewhere much nicer. I hope this feedback encourages them to make improvements.

The music was so loud that we couldn’t sleep during either of our two nights, and it sounded as though it was coming from the house itself. On our last morning, the manager knocked at 7:40 a.m. and tried to come in to collect payment. This was a terrible experience for a couples’ vacation. Nobody was available to help guests; a young woman who couldn’t speak gave us the key to room 1 without explaining anything. There was no electricity when we entered, and the bathroom was in terrible shape. They moved us to room 2, but it had no towels, soap, or toilet paper, and the furniture was covered in dust and cobwebs.

I can’t recommend this hostel after such a terrible stay. The sheets smelled like fish, the place reeked of old manure, and it seemed the rooms weren’t being cleaned or washed for guests. The mattresses also seemed to have some kind of bedbug infestation. Completely unhygienic. The staff showed no empathy or real attention to guests and seemed interested only in making money. I hope I never have to return. What an awful experience in Riohacha.

It’s a clean place with a good, clean bathroom. The main drawback is that the rooms only have double beds. Unless you’re a couple or are comfortable sharing a bed, you’ll have to sleep on the floor.
