Hollywood Paradise Hotel

We enjoyed our stay. The food was very good, and the hotel was spotless. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s conveniently just two minutes from the airport, and transport was available to pick us up when we arrived at midnight. That made getting into Medellin easy after a long day of travel.

A good stay, with friendly staff and great prices. It’s far from the airport, but getting around by bus is a bargain: 2500 pesos to town and 2500 pesos to the airport. The local bus comes to the hotel about every 15 to 20 minutes. I rode it to the corner, then waited on the main road for the airport bus, which comes about every 15 to 20 minutes and stops about half a mile up the road.

We were told just five hours before our reservation that the hotel had no water and couldn’t accommodate anyone. We only needed to stay one night before a connecting flight, and asked if we could still stay with the water off. The staff were rude and unprofessional throughout. Hotels should have emergency plans to move guests elsewhere in situations like this. The next morning we contacted the boss of Hollywood Paradise to explain how unhappy we were. He said he didn’t care and that the hotel still had the most nights sold in all of Medellin. He also claimed we’d been notified 24 hours before the reservation, which was a blatant lie. Because they hadn’t planned for this, we had to go back to the airport and spend the night there. Avoid booking here at all costs. There are plenty of airport hotels with much better service.

It’s out of the way, but the big rooms had a microwave, safe, and hot water, and were clean. No towels. Breakfast and coffee were free and good, and the price was very reasonable.
