Hotel Portón Sabaneta

The location is great, very close to Medellin's main area and Valle de Aburra. We had a great stay, with clean, neat rooms, modern facilities, and lots of natural light. The staff were quick to handle requests, and they made the bed and cleaned the room and bathroom every day, which was lovely to come back to after a long day. There's a safe in the closet, a garage included, yummy breakfast, and plenty of coffee. By reception there's a little deli with snacks, drinks, and toiletries. We highly recommend it and would come back, God willing. Five stars in Sabaneta!

I've stayed here twice, both times at the last minute because my partner's family lives nearby. The location is excellent, the front desk staff deserve five stars, and the cleanliness and other basics are great. But the Wi-Fi and breakfast were horrible both times. The connection is slow, unreliable, and practically unusable, so don't plan to work from here. Breakfast is no better: the service is guache, the food has no flavor, and they use the cheapest products. They call it a buffet, but serve the food themselves and even limit the juice. That may sound funny, but it's true. It's fine for a one-night stay if you have something to do in Sabaneta, but I wouldn't recommend it for a full Medellín visit. It could turn into a nightmare.

I paid for food for two, but was given a single portion. The manager was very rude and wanted me to pay more for two portions. When I pointed out the problem, they did nothing and insisted the one plate was for two. The utensils were dirty, so I had to ask for plastic ones. They were stingy and made me uncomfortable. This is my last time here, and I don't think anyone else should go until they change management and the morning staff, including breakfast staff. Maybe those employees should stick to cleaning and hire people who won't cheat guests over a breakfast they've paid for. It was good to see how they treat foreigners.

Breakfast was included, which was good and convenient, and the employees were very nice with good customer care. But the hotel needs more maintenance, especially under the different administration. The room phone didn't work, and even after I told the front desk every day for five days, they never fixed it. The bathroom outlet also didn't work, and the glass bathroom door was broken. Food service after breakfast would be a plus too.
